Created to Be His Helpmeet Revisited

Liz asked if the book I mentioned yesterday is at all like Created to Be His Helpmeet, by Debi Pearl.

In a word: No!

I read and reviewed that book a couple of years ago, and you can read those posts here and here,
if you're interested.

Whew! Glad to hear it. It sounds like we have a very similar views of Debi Pearl. Now I'm curious & interested in this book! Thanks for answering me on that. :)

Thanks for your reviews of the Created....book. I feel the same way, and in fact could not read it all the way through. It's sitting on my list though as I feel I need to read it at some point to interact with others. It was that part you mentioned -- about not being sensitive to hurting/struggling women -- that got to me, especially as at the time someone so close to me was going through very difficult struggles.

BTW, have you read any of Sally Clarkson's books? A friend introduced me to them and they have been SO encouraging -- she writes on mothering/parenting

Great Candice!

I had very uneasy feelings reading this book too, at first I thought it was great. But so many views were unsupported by scripture.

I'm also struggling with the book "So much more" by Sophia Botkin, while on the surface it looks "good". We have some vocal people in our church, who think women should not work at all.

While I agree to some point, as in a woman with children, who neglect them for her career is wrong - but these people think no work at all, and girls should stay home until they marry -to help their fathers.
I am yet to ask them what about the hospital -do we want only males looking after our children in the children's ward? Do we want to go to only male doctors? Don't we NEED christian women in all areas of the workforce?

I love Elizabeth George's book on the proverbs 31 woman, an EXCELLENT read and very balanced!
Sorry for rambling!
