Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit

The Dead Sea Scrolls are coming to Kansas City's Union Station, February 8-May 13, 2007! This has to be one of the most important archaeological discoveries of all time. These manuscripts are the only known biblical texts that predate 100 AD:

"The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls by a Bedouin shepherd in 1946 remains one of the most significant archaeological finds of the twentieth century. Between 1947 and the late 1950s, over 800 papyrus and parchment texts were uncovered in 11 caves in and around Qumran on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea.

The scrolls have revolutionized our understanding of the text and canon of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, as well as providing new insights into the nature of Second Temple Judaism. They also provide a better understanding of the world of the early Christian community." more...

As Christians we believe that the bible is the inerrant, infallible word of God. The fact that the scriptures have been so well preserved for over two millennia is proof that it is God's word. He will not allow a single stroke to diminish until He accomplishes all things: "For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished" (Mt. 5:18 ESV).
