Little Princesses

I saw this today on Fox News. Wonder how this will bode for these kids' marriages?

Along the same lines...this is excellent.

Good articles. I have always thought that the best thing to happen to me was that I was "on my own" at age 18. That sure taught me responsibility-actually being responsible! Also, it is good to be reminded that admitting we aren't the best at something can be a good thing.

Ok, ok!! I have been reading your blog for several months and have never left a comment in fear that others would read it. However this one had my mind going this very early morning of 5:30am!!

I wrote this once and then lost it trying to send it off :( so I will try to remember all that I wrote and do it again!

Exodus 23:12 Six days do your work..

Ecc. 10:18 If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks.

Ecc. 11:6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let NOT your hands be idle...

As a parent, I have never felt very confident of the road that we are taking and often failed and have had to seek forgivness from my children. After reading these articles on your blog I realize that we are always feeling the pressure from society to do what it says which is in conflict with what the Bible says.

1Cor. 4:12 We work hard with our own hands.

We have six children and live on 17acres. We have 9 horses, 2 dogs, too many cats, 3 rabbits, 2 turtles and 1 guinea pig. Needless to say, I don't do all the work myself. Each of the older children do alot of chores but I often struggle when I hear one of them say..."__________, only has to make his bed in the morning!" or "Why does ___________ get to sleep over so often at her friends house?" or "__________ gets to play on the Wii all afternoon or play on the computer whenever his/her school is finished!"

Society screams at us that our children should be doing "more"! More time on the computer, more video games, more sports, more play time, more sleepovers, more time to text or more time to socialize with their friends. Trust me, I am not saying that these are evil things in moderation. However, I believe that these things come naturally because we are such self pleasers!

Ohhh, I heard the first alarm going off in the girls bedroom at 5:57am to start their day! I refuse to feel guilty that I am working them too hard!

1 Thess. 5:12 Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you...

2 Thess. 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."

I am praying for each of our children to add to society with their hard work. I believe that Satan wants us to be idle so that the Lord's work will not be completed. I also pray that our children will have respect for the ones around them that work hard to make society a better place! I am also going to remember this when I am whining that I need more "me time" and that I shouldn't have to work soooo hard! YES! This even applies to me who wants to be lazy!

One last scripture and I will close my very short comment! Ha Ha! I may be addicted now that I have had my first taste of blogging!! You may not get rid of me!

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Dawn, pigs are flying outside my window.

Your kids are wonderful and testaments to all the training and love that you pour into them. I know I can get so discouraged when I see how imperfect my children are...but then I remember that we ALL are 'works in progress', and praise God for His work in finishing the work He has begun in us.

Love you, dear friend!

Okay, I realize that I didn't really respond to the topic you were focusing on (work/entertainment/self-focus), but the encouragement still stands! :)
