I'm Married to a Home School Mom and She's My Hero

Candice and I try to attend a local home school conference each year. It wasn't always like that. I used to roll my eyes whenever Candice would ask me to go with her, but God has really changed my heart. I've learned that even though Candice handles the bulk of the teaching (OK, all of it...), I'm still responsible for my kids education (cf. Deut. 6:7).

One of the highlights of the conference each year is the different speakers that are featured. This year we attended one of the sessions by Todd Wilson entitled 'Help! I'm Married to a Home School Mom'. Todd is a gifted speaker. He has a great sense of humor and had us laughing out loud for most of the session. God used what he said to help me better understand my need to support and encourage my wife. What I like about Todd is that he offers very practical advice - stuff guys need!

The other session that we were able to attend was on discipleship. The speaker (I can't remember his name, but he reminded me of a white version of Sinbad) hammered me by talking about the need to save yourself for your family and give them your best at all times. We're indoctrinated by our culture to do just the opposite: give everyone else our best. That really convicted me. I lay it all out at work or church or wherever and the fam just gets the leftovers. I'm repenting (180), by God's grace, and am going to give 100% at home and you guys can have whatever is left! :) I'll let you know how it goes, or better yet, ask my family...
